The Importance of Airflow

Whether you live in a warm climate or a cold one, roof ventilation is vital. And because the airflow changes depending on the temperature, vents should be installed in the lower parts of a roof as well as higher up.

Ridge Vents - Allow heat to escape along the top of the roof.

Turbine Vents - Pushed by the wind, turbine vents suck air out of the attic.

Soffit Vents - Allow cooler air to enter along the bottom of the roof and move hotter air out through top vents.

Ventilation Problems - Vents can easily get blocked by debris. Blocked vents cause hot air to be trapped in your attic, radiating heat down into your living area. The constant heat will degrade your shingles and for that reason, most shingle manufacturers will void their warranties if ventilation standards are not present.
